By now, kids of all ages are out of school for summer vacation. This time of year, I love to reminisce about that sense of freedom that summer brings to school-age kiddos. The feeling of being done with another year and the excitement of upcoming summer travels or just lounging by the pool for days on end is something I really miss now that I'm a grown-up. When I was in high school, our tradition for the last day of school was to 1) jump in the pool with our uniforms on, 2) watch Dazed and Confused and 3) find some sort of mildly rebellious thing to do, like race shopping carts in a parking lot. Wild, I know, but it pretty much set the tone for the rest of our summer. So now, every time June rolls around, I get an urge to blast some Alice Cooper and reminisce about what summer used to mean. Anyone up for a shopping cart race?
