I eat oatmeal for breakfast every morning. When I feel like doing extra dishes, I'll add a veggie & fruit smoothie into the mix. Sometimes I mix it up with an Acai Bowl. Mostly I go with oatmeal because it's easy to dump a bunch of stuff in a bowl and heat it up AND it keeps me full forever. Here's my latest concoction that's loaded with antioxidants, fiber and omega-3s. If you eat this you'll basically be the healthiest person ever (I am not a health expert and that statement was a major exaggeration!)
This looks a little complicated but I swear it's super simple because you're just dumping a bunch of stuff in a bowl! Ok, here's the step-by-step:
FIRST:
Mix 1/2 cup of oatmeal + 1 teaspoon of chia seeds + 1 tablespoon of toasted flax seeds (all of these ingredients are available at my Trader Joe's... hopefully you can get them at yours too!)
THEN:
Add water + heat in the microwave for 1.5 minutes
FINALLY:
Add the following on top of your heated oatmeal:
It couldn't be easier and it's a great way to start your day with a power breakfast packed with antioxidants, fiber and omega-3s! I included links for additional information on the health benefits of some of these ingredients above in case you're curious.

- 1/4 cup of almond milk
- 1/4 cup of sliced roasted almonds (I use dry roasted almonds with no added oils -- you should too)
- Slices from one banana
- 1 teaspoon of cacao powder
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon (no sugar... just cinnamon!)
- Optional: 1 tablespoon of honey -- if you're watching your sugar intake, you don't need this
